Youth invited to sign up for 2017 National Jamboree with Alameda CouncilAlameda Council BSA will again organize a council contingent of 36 Boy Scouts, 8 Venturers, and 6 adult volunteers who will attend the National Scout Jamboree in July 2017 at The Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia. Our trip will include a pre-Jamboree tour of historic sites in Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington D.C. Our contingent will once again be the highest per-capita youth attendance among BSA councils in the Western Region.
Online signups for 2017 Jamboree by individual Scouts and Venturers have begun. The online registration process has improved from 2013, and the link to register is http://www.summitbsa.org/events/jamboree/jamboree-registration/
The estimated 2017 National Scout Jamboree fee for our Alameda Council NSJ Contingent will be $2,900 per youth and adult. This may sound like a lot, but it is actually the best deal among all councils in the greater Bay Area. And with your hard-earned popcorn sales money and other money-earning efforts, our Jamboree participant fee is something totally do-able for just about any Scout or Venturer who wants to go. $300.00 deposit to the Alameda Council Jamboree account by May 31 will hold your spot in the contingent.
Meetings of the Alameda Council NSJ Contingent will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Alameda Elks Lodge Scout House, 2255 Santa Clara Avenue (the Scout House is the small building on the south side of the Elks parking lot, behind the main Elks Lodge building). Troop/crew contingent meetings will be once every two months beginning Wednesday, September 14, 2016.
The council activities committee has selected Richard Christman, Jeff SIlva, Tim Wilhelm, Cedrick Becerra, Michael Panos, and Steve Zimmerman to be our 4 troop and 2 crew adult leaders for the Alameda Contingent..
Older youth and adults (age 16 to 99) can also serve on National Scout Jamboree staff. The online registration process is similar, and can be found in the same national BSA Jamboree registration website shown above (with Jamboree staff fees paid directly to BSA).
