Alameda Council Votes To Become Part of the Golden Gate Area Council

Alameda Council To Become Part of the New Golden Gate Area Council

The Alameda Council voted to become a part of the new Golden Gate Area Council. On April 27, 2020, the voting body (Executive Board, Council Members At Large and Charter Organization Representatives) of Alameda Council cast ballots in favor of a council consolidation. This historic vote will lead to the merger of Alameda, Mt. Diablo Silverado and San Francisco Bay Area Councils beginning on June 1, 2020.

We look forward to the expanded resources, financial stability, greater membership and extensive volunteer spirit that will make the Golden Gate Area Council - the best in the west! As the Alameda District, we will continue to provide the best possible Scouting experience to the youth of our community. The Alameda District will operate in a similar manner to our former council administration (events, training, fundraising and membership) - with additional support from the Golden Gate Area Council.

We look forward to sharing more information as available - including a council wide kick off event on June 1st

For more information, please contact Alameda Council Interim Scout Executive Jason Lewis at (925) 759-0848 or via e-mail at Jason.lewis@scouting.org or Council President Benjamin Reyes at btr2esq@berkeley.edu.
